Cameron Davis made a significant leap in the Official World Golf Ranking following his impressive victory at the recently concluded 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic. The Australian golfer, who was ranked 67th before the event, climbed 29 spots to reach 38th, which is also his highest career ranking to date.
At present, Davis holds the 38th position in the world rankings, with an average point total of 2.4511. On the other hand, Scottie Scheffler currently holds the top spot in the world ranking. The American golfer has secured six tournament victories in 2024 and has maintained his position at the top of the World Ranking with an average of 17.8368 points. Rory McIlroy follows closely in second place, trailed by Xander Schauffele.
Cameron Davis secured his second PGA Tour win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, triumphing with a one-stroke lead over Akshay Bhatia, Aaron Rai, Min Woo Lee, and Davis. Interestingly, his first PGA Tour victory also came at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2021, when he defeated Joaquin Niemann and Troy Merritt in a playoff.
Following his recent win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Cameron Davis earned $1.6 million in prize money and FedEx Cup points. Prior to the final round of the PGA Tour event, Davis held the third position, while Aaron Rai and Akshay Bhatia led the pack. However, Bhatia struggled on the final hole, missing a crucial putt and carding a bogey, ultimately leading to Davis’s victory.
During his post-victory interview, Cameron Davis became emotional while speaking with a reporter. Holding back tears, the Australian golfer expressed, “From where I was a couple of weeks ago to today, feel like a completely different person. This is quite emotional for me. I wouldn’t wish what happened to Akshay on anyone, but I’ve put in a lot of hard work to dig myself out of a tough situation, and achieve this sudden turnaround feels really special.”
