Sequencing refers to the precise order in which each component of your body moves during a golf swing. The movement of your hips, torso, arms, and other parts must occur in a specific sequence for an efficient swing.
Achieving the correct sequencing can be challenging, as there are many factors that can disrupt it during the short duration of a swing. However, mastering the proper sequencing can greatly improve your golf game.
To help you develop a sense of the correct sequencing, GOLF Top 100 Teacher Andrew Rice suggests a drill. Hold an alignment stick like a club and make a few swings, focusing on creating a “whooshing” sound as you swing through the air.
To generate a louder “whooshing” sound, you will naturally make certain movements, such as pushing off the ground with your legs and releasing the stick with your wrists at impact. These movements demonstrate proper sequencing in action.
Continue practicing these swings gradually increasing the volume of the “whooshing” sound. With time, you will develop a better understanding of the body movements required to achieve the correct sequencing.
Remember, mastering sequencing in your golf swing can have a significant impact on your overall performance.
