CM Punk seems destined for a prominent role at WrestleMania 41, with growing speculation that he will compete for the World Heavyweight Championship.
According to the Backstage Pass podcast via WrestleVotes, WWE management is intent on placing Punk in a marquee title match.
While current champion Gunther is an option, sources express doubts about this pairing being the final direction. “The one main factor that I’ve heard almost all year is they want him [Punk] to be involved in a World Title match,” said WrestleVotes, adding, “I don’t think it’ll be Gunther.” [h/t WrestlingNewsCo]
With the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship headlining Night 2, Punk could finally achieve his long-awaited WrestleMania main event on Night 1.
This marks a significant opportunity for Punk, who missed competing at WrestleMania 40 due to an injury suffered at the Royal Rumble.
Despite this, he played a pivotal role as a special announcer, setting the stage for his feud of the year with Drew McIntyre.
Now cleared to compete, Punk’s path to WrestleMania 41 could elevate him to the forefront of WWE’s creative plans.
Whether he faces Gunther or another contender, Punk’s involvement promises to bring star power to the World Heavyweight Championship picture.
