Tyrrell Hatton laments punishments handed to him by the DP World Tour after He opted to join the LIV Golf setup

Tyrrell Hatton, a star of LIV Golf, has disclosed his primary goal for 2025 – to be part of the European Ryder Cup team. This comes despite facing disciplinary action from the DP World Tour.
About a year ago, Hatton followed Jon Rahm’s lead and joined the LIV setup and Rahm’s breakaway league franchise, Legion XIII. This move resulted in a fine and suspension from the DP World Tour for participating in ‘conflicting’ LIV events.
Consequently, many LIV players chose to give up their DP World Tour membership, making them ineligible for the European Ryder Cup team. However, Hatton, eager to join Luke Donald’s team at Bethpage Black, retained his membership. This means he must pay his fines and serve his suspension to qualify for selection. Interestingly, Hatton seems to have found a loophole. To return to the DP World Tour towards the end of 2024, Hatton appealed his punishments, enabling him to compete both on the Tour and in the Ryder Cup. When asked about his main goal for the year by the Daily Mail, Hatton responded: “Play in the Ryder Cup.”Regarding the penalties imposed by the DP World Tour, he said: “I’ve appealed the fines but as for the process around it, that’s not something I’ve put a lot of thought into. All I can do is focus on how I play, but obviously I want to be at the Ryder Cup. Really want to be.”
