The R&A has named a new CEO weeks ahead of the 2024 Open Championship.

Mark Darbon has been announced as the new CEO of The R&A and the secretary of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. He will take over from the current CEO, Martin Slumbers, in November. Darbon, who previously served as CEO of Premiership Rugby club, Northampton Saints, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He was also a key member of the team responsible for organizing the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. In his new position, Darbon is excited to contribute to the success of golf at all levels, from grassroots to professional. He looks forward to collaborating with the talented R&A team, the club membership, and various partner organizations to achieve even greater accomplishments in the future.
